Microsoft offers Neptun Spring Wave 2020: A refreshed classic

The Surface Pro has received a welcome update in its 7^th generation with small, useful changes to a platform that still works well. As the only devices in our current lineup, the Pro 7 features the latest Intel 10^th gen Ice Lake CPUs, which are the first widely available Intel CPUs manufactured at a 10 nm process. The new CPUs only offer the usual small increase of performance in general tasks, but the included GPU now is about twice as fast as the predecessor. The improved GPU power is welcome in all tasks that rely on graphics power like photo and video editing, CAD projects, or gaming. Additionally, the Pro 7 has dropped the Mini DisplayPort for a much more useful USB-C port, which also allows for charging.

As always, we’ve selected two recommended configurations at different price points that offer the best price to performance ratio in our view.

Surface Book 2 and Laptop 3

Though they aren’t official Neptun devices and receive no support or recommendation from us, the Surface Book 2 and Laptop 3 are also available through our link in the shop with a substantial discount. In our opinion, the other laptops in our lineup offer better value for money, and they all have better warranties, as well as better upgradeability. Still, since Microsoft is offering quite a good discount on these devices, we leave it up to you to make an informed decision.
