As a follow-up to our post on shortcuts on Windows, we’d now like to show you the most useful shortcuts for Mac users. Like the keyboard layout on Windows, the Mac keyboard layout allows for the use of shortcuts that help work more efficiently.

Most shortcuts can help you copy and paste files, or control basic functions of programs:
• Command ⌘ +C: Copy. Copies the selected item to the Clipboard. This also works for files in the Finder.
• Command ⌘ +V: Paste. Pastes the contents of the Clipboard into the current document or app. This works for files in the Finder as well.
• Command ⌘ +X: Cut. Removes the selected item and copy it to the Clipboard.
• Command ⌘ +Z: Undo. Undoes the previous command. You can then press Command-Shift-Z to Redo, reversing the undo command.
• Command ⌘ +A: Select. Selects all items.
• Command ⌘ +S: Save. Saves the current document.
• Command ⌘ +P: Print. Prints the current document.

There are several shortcuts that let you arrange the windows on the desktop:
• Command ⌘ +F: Find. Opens a Find window, or find items in a document.
• Command ⌘ +G: Find Again. Finds the next occurrence of the item previously found. To find the previous occurrence, press Command ⌘ + Shift +G.
• Command ⌘ +H: Hides the windows of the front app. To view the front app but hide all other apps, press Command ⌘ + Option + H.
• Command ⌘ +M: Minimizes the front window to the Dock. To minimize all windows of the front app, press Command ⌘ + Option +M.
• Command ⌘ +N: New. Opens a new document or window.
• Command ⌘ +O: Open. Opens the selected item, or opens a dialog to select a file to open.

These shortcuts allow you to close tabs and apps or put the display to sleep:

• Command ⌘ +W: Close the front window. To close all windows of the app, press Command-Option-W.
• Command ⌘ +Q: Quit the App.
• Control + Shift + Power button or Media Eject: Puts your displays to sleep.
• Command ⌘ +Q: Quits the App.
