New Lenovo Devices Fall 19: Shiny and New

Lenovo Neptun Hardware

Our Lenovo devices have all received an upgraded to Intel’s latest processor generation and thanks to dropping RAM and SSD prices, we were able to either lower the prices or increase storage. The two high-end X1 devices now come with ultra-sharp 4k displays.

For the Lenovo workstations see our separate blog post here.

Laptops

The ThinkPad T490 lost the external battery of its predecessor, but it’s now even more compact. Equipped with 24 GB of RAM (8 GB onboard + 16 GB SO-DIMM) and a dedicated Nvidia MX250 GPU, it’s great for media content creation or for CUDA projects. With a 100% coverage of the AdobeRGB color space, the T490 is well suited for situations where color accuracy is necessary.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th comes in two variations: The first one features an antiglare WQHD display, an Intel i7 CPU with 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and an amazingly low price point. The second variation is fully maxed out with the fastest available i7 quadcore CPU, a glossy 4k display, 16 GB of RAM and a whopping 2 TB storage. Additionally, it comes with WWAN as standard. Both variations come in at only 1.1 kg, which easily makes them our lightest laptops in the lineup.

Convertibles

The ThinkPad L390 Yoga comes in the same configuration as last Spring, but it now costs less than 1000.- CHF. With an Intel i5 CPU and 8 GB of upgradeable RAM (one free slot), the L390 Yoga offers great performance and build quality at a very affordable price point.

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga is Lenovo’s premium convertible and in its fourth iteration, it comes with an all-new aluminum case which is just as compact as the one of the X1 Carbon. With a great 4k display and optional WWAN, the X1 Yoga is an excellent travel companion.

All Lenovo devices except the L390 Yoga support Thunderbolt 3 docks as well as the traditional TB3-UltraDock. For the L390 Yoga, we recommend USB-C docking stations.

We were able to negotiate very favorable deals for warranty extensions incl. Accidental Damage Protection (ADP). We therefore strongly recommend considering such an extension either to make sure you get the device repaired even in the case of an accident or to increase the resale value of your device.

Demo Days

At our Demo Days at universities all over Switzerland, you will be able to get some hands-on experience with all the new devices. Neptun staff and staff from the manufacturers will be there to help you find the right device.
