Neptun Hardware

The Neptun Wave Fall 2018 brings one major change for all those who can never have enough performance: Intel’s new 8th generation workstation CPUs with 6 cores. Our workstations can now match the upgrade our smaller laptops got last Spring, so you can expect up to 30% more performance in our most powerful laptops.

New Laptops

The new 2018 versions of the Apple MacBook Pro 13 with Touchbar and the MacBook Pro 15 now sport the latest Intel 8th generation CPUs with four or six cores in the same slim package. Additionally, the excellent displays of the MacBooks now support TrueTone for consistent color representation and Siri integration has been improved. The iPad is now also available in the 2018 version and we’ve prepared attractive bundles with the Apple Pen, a Logitech keyboard, and a cleaning solution for both the regular iPad and the iPad Pro models.

Three laptops in our HP line-up are entirely new: The ProBook x360 440 G1, the EliteBook 1050 G1, and the ZBook Studio G5. The latter two come in the same slim and light case and both feature the same Intel hexacore CPU, but the EliteBook 1050 sports and Nvidia Geforce 1050 GPU, while the ZBook has a professional Nvidia Quadro P1000 GPU. Both these workstations are ideal for highly demanding tasks ranging from media creation to scientific computing. The ProBook, on the other hand, is our most affordable convertible, so far, and it ticks all the boxes for regular office tasks.

The popular EliteBook x360 1030 got an upgrade to a more compact case and it now features our first ever anti-glare touchscreen that is compatible with a digital pen. Additionally, it now also features a new Intel 8th generation CPU. The specifications of the EliteBook 840 G5 and 850 G5 have slightly changed, with the former now featuring a dedicated GPU and the latter slightly slower hardware at a significantly lower price. The EliteBook 830 has been replaced with the EliteBook 735, which is essentially the same laptop as before, but with an AMD CPU instead of one from Intel. This will get you better graphics performance and similar CPU performance at a lower price. It also features a considerably improved display.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P52 is the successor to the P51 and it comes with a new hexacore Intel Xeon CPU and the latest Nvidia Quadro P2000. Just like its predecessor, it features ECC RAM and it’s highly upgradable (Up to 128 GB RAM and 4 TB SSD). The display calibration sensor has been removed, but the new semi-glossy 4k touchscreen display is factory-calibrated and has excellent color gamut. The rest of Lenovo’s line-up has remained the same, but the X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga are now both available with a WWAN option.

The new Microsoft Surface Go is now available. With its low power CPU, it’s a great secondary device to take notes, watch movies, or read books.

Displays and Printers

The NEC monitors from the last sales wave are available again with their excellent ergonomic options and their high-end IPS panels. To replace the out-of-stock EA275UHD from NEC, we now offer the HP Z27: The Z27 comes with a 27” 4k panel and it features a USB-C input, which offers a one-cable solution for charging, sending display signals, and running a USB hub. Additionally, for macOS users we offer the LG UltraFine 5k display, which was specifically designed for Apple devices. The 5k display shows 77% more pixels than a 4k display, which gives you a sharper image.

Four HP printers are available again, with one model now supporting HP Instant Ink which automates your ink management with a subscription, removing the worry about empty ink cartridges.

Accessories

In addition to hardware upgrades and peripheral devices, we once more offer and recommend warranty extensions of up to 5 years, which are available at a large discount for many devices. Warranty extensions ensure a long useful life for your devices and they increase the resale value significantly. Additionally, Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) plans are available for many devices, which protect you from damages that are not usually covered by warranty like drops and spills.

High-quality accessories are again available at a high discount from Logitech. They include everything from mice and keyboards to gaming steering wheels and headsets

The HP Omen Accelerator will also be featured in our line-up. This external graphics enclosure lets you connect powerful desktop graphics cards to any laptop with a Thunderbolt 3 connection to enhance performance in CAD applications, scientific calculations, and in games.

Additional Offers

Init7 with their gigabit internet offer, and Swisscom with their inOne XTRA mobile subscriptions will once again connect you to the internet at a Neptun discount. Sennheiser headphones can help you relax or block out noise during intense study sessions, while the CAD peripherals from 3DConnexion let you navigate easily through complex construction plans. Wacom will offer their latest pen tablets and displays, which are ideal for digital painting. For the first time, Projekt Neptun will be able to offer a select range of mirrorless cameras from Fujifilm.

Demo Days

As always, you will be able to see all our laptops in person at our Demo Days at more than a dozen university campuses all over Switzerland. Our own staff and representatives from our partners will be there to answer all your questions and help you find the right device for your needs.
