Neptun Apple Hardware

The MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro 13 received new, more powerful CPUs, and the ill-fated Butterfly keyboard now has been replaced by a new design on all models. As always, all MacBook models are available at a discount of 15 % in any configuration, and we are offering five models as recommended configurations with a 3 year warranty upgrade bundled. All other macOS devices, including the new iMac 27”, are available at a 13 % discount. All iPad models can be ordered at a 7 % discount.

MacBook Air and Pro 13

The MacBook Air is now much more affordable than before, and it comes with a new, very much improved keyboard. The performance of the MacBook Air is nothing close to high-end, but it’s enough for everyday office tasks.

Apple still offers two different models of the MacBook Pro 13: One with two Thunderbolt 3 ports and one with four Thunderbolt 3 ports. The model with two ports only makes sense in a low-end configuration as an upgrade to the MacBook Air, since the model with four ports is only slightly more expensive and quite a bit faster.

The MacBook Pro 13 with four Thunderbolt 3 ports comes with a new keyboard, and Intel’s latest 10th gen 10 nm (Ice Lake) CPUs. The CPUs are different from the Intel 10th gen 14 nm (Comet Lake-U) CPUs in our Lenovo and HP laptops, since the CPU in the MacBook offers much better graphics performance. Compared to the previous generation of the MacBook Pro 13, the keyboard and the CPU make it a worthy upgrade.

MacBook Pro 16

The MacBook Pro 16 is still largely the same as the one we offered in the previous Neptun Wave. One notable difference is the availability of a new, more powerful graphics card: the AMD Radeon Pro 5600M. The new GPU option offers about 50 % more performance than the previous top model.

iPads

The iPad Air and the iPad Mini were overhauled with current hardware, which now makes them good choices again in Apple’s iPad lineup. The Air, the Mini as well as the regular iPad now all support the first-generation Apple Pencil, making them great secondary devices for notetaking in the lecture hall. The iPad Pro supports the second-generation Apple Pencil which charges wirelessly. The iPad Pro can also be used as a secondary display for MacBooks, making them even more useful.
