Who is eligible to order?

Students and Higher Education Affiliates

University and college students of Swiss higher education institutions who are at least 18 years of age may order from Neptun if the the scope of their studies corresponds to at least a postgraduate course. According to the definition of the Swiss Federation this means:

  • The equivalent of at least one year of full time studies consisting of ca. 600 hours of lectures and a thesis.
  • For further education courses the number of required lecture hours may be distributed over the the course of several years.

Employees of Swiss institutions of higher education may order from Neptun as well.
In summary, all members of the following Swiss institutions of higher education may order from Neptun if they are 18 years of age or older:

  • ETHZ / EPFL
  • ETH-associated Research Institutes (EAWAG, EMPA, PSI and WSL)
  • Swiss Universities
  • Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschulen)
  • University Hospitals
  • CERN
  • FMI
  • Agroscope
  • Pädagogische Hochschulen
  • Technikerschulen
  • Höhere Fachschulen

Teachers

Teachers and instructors from any officially recognized Swiss school may order from Neptun as well.

High School Students

High school students of Swiss high schools (Gymnasium, HF) may order from Neptun if they are 18 years of age or older. 

Alumni

Active members of official alumni associations of Swiss institutions of higher education may order from Neptun (membership must be verifiable). It is possible that not all of Neptun's offers will be available for alumni. Restrictions are noted wherever they apply.

Institutional Orders

Institutions may choose to pay by invoice (in addition to credit card and bank transfer). In order to be able to order by invoice, institutes must register with the corresponding shop provider and establish an institutional account. For further information please contact your institution's IT procurement service or send an e-mail to kontakt@projektneptun.ch.

Ordering Limitation

Private orders:

  • Max. 2 laptops und 2 tablets per person and year for HP and Lenovo devices
  • Max. 2 laptops und 2 tablets per person per year for Apple devices 
  • Max. 1 hybrid-tablet per person per year for Microsoft devices

There is no limitation on other devices unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer. There are no quanititative limits for institutional orders.

Private Orders

The ordering process for an individual is as follows:

  1. Choose the desired product on the Project Neptun website and go to the authorization process by clicking the order button.
  2. Authorization for customers with SwitchAAI account: Choose the SwitchAAI log on option and identify yourself by entering your institutional username and password. Authorization for customers without SwitchAAI account: Choose the alternative log on option for customers without SwitchAAI and fill out the customer form. Please note that you must use your institutional e-mail address (as issued by your school or university). If you do not have an institutional e-mail address, please contact us at kontakt@projektneptun.ch.
  3. Once you have completed the authorization process you will be redirected to the actual shop.
  4. Add the desired product(s) to your shopping cart. Please make sure that the correct product has been added to the cart and proceed to check-out.
  5. Enter your invoice and shipping address and choose your payment option.
  6. Confirm your order.

Payment Options

Depending on the shop, the payment options vary. Private orders must, in general, be payed in advance either by bank transfer or credit card. Please note that delivery takes place after payment is received. Credit card payments are effected immediately but may be subject to additional credit card charges.
If you choose to pay by bank transfer an e-invoice is sent to your e-mail account within 24 hours of order placement. Customers who do not receive the e-mail within 24 hours are kindly asked to contact the sales team as the e-mail may potentially have been blocked e.g. by a spam filter.

Shipping Information

An estimated shipping time is published in the corresponding shops. Standard configurations are usually shipped within shorter time frames than special configurations (e.g. US keyboard, DOS only, etc.).
Devices that have been introduced to the market shortly prior to a Neptun Wave may be subject to delayed shipping. The corresponding information - if available - is published on the Neptun website as well as the shops website.
Please note: The estimated delivery date gives you an indication of how long it will take to post your order after receiving cleared payment.
Availability of devices may change between order placement and payment reciept (especially in the case of bank transfers which usually take 1 to 2 business days to process).

Institutional Orders
